turning a corner?

January 7, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid 20s and some wind near the end

Comments:
After the "State of the School" speech I dawdled for awhile, but then headed off into the fading twilight to mimic the run some of my athletes had gone on "through Spring Valley, to MacArthur, and up Loughboro." I never felt too cold and found pretty decent footing in the streets, all in all, despite the slush and ice on most sidewalks. I took back way to University to 49th to Glenbrook, over Loughboro to Macomb to Klingle to Webber to Lowell to Loughboro to AU to the track (sheet of ice) to Mass to Albemarle to 49th to Chesapeake. Actually got going pretty strong up the hilly portions and along the final mile and a half. My knees were a bit sore (probably from the footing) and my legs felt stiff, but I actually felt in the final mile that I was fairly strong and that today represented my first decent feeling run since Nike weekend. That was promising. I may be ready to race indoors by early February if I can keep up this sort of training. Today's pace was probably 7:30 average and the finish might have been 7:00, but I'm just calling it 6 to make up for over-stating yesterday's mileage.
