Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Rainy, Cold, and Icy
Comments:
I didn't really have a plan today, but I also didn't want to just do an out and back. So I went down Military for about a block, turned right on Western, hooked off on some side road, and found myself on Connecticut. I headed down there until Military, where I turned right (completely the strange loop) and headed back up until turning right on Reno. Then, recognizing Fessenden from the satellite loop and hoping to get back on a slightly less desolate, icy road, I took Fessenden to Wisconsin, went to the end of Sidwell, and headed home on Wisconsin. It was fun to kind of put my current knowledge of DC roads and routes to the test, but at the same time, because I didn't have a specific goal, I felt kind of tired and discouraged for a while. As soon as I got onto Wisconsin, and even more so once I turned around, I loosened up, got more focused (possibly thanks to the lights, people, familiar route, and lack of snow), and enjoyed what was up until then a grueling run. I guess I like knowing the general route before taking off, but it was also fun to explore a bit. Oh, I also saw Abby running in the opposite direction in Tenleytown. Good to see my fellow runners training during these lonely weeks.
