Happy that I managed to make it to practice today after all the math meet confusion. I was fairly nervous to hear that we were doing a tempo today, but also pretty exited, as I haven't done a workout as distance oriented as this since either cross country or the beginning of winter tack. We all ran up Wisconsin at a pretty relaxed pace, and turned onto Dorset. A block or two in at the base of an uphill, we started the tempo. I was with Sahil, Josh, and Noah B until after about 7 minutes in, when Sahil and Josh drifted away from us. Noah and I ended up going a bit longer down the trail than 10 minutes, so our 20 minute tempo had us ending at Dorset instead of after the intimidating hill. Still, the entire way back was slightly uphill, and the difficulty difference was definitely palpable. I'm not quite sure about the exact distance, but Anthony said we were going between 6:30 and 6:45 pace (for what actually ended up being 21 minutes, as we wanted to get to the end of the trail). This, shockingly enough, means that I ran a 5k PR by around 45 seconds, in a tempo workout! And if that's not enough to make my day, I felt surprisingly good after around 3 minutes of taking it easy back to school, and was able to recover into a normal steady pace. Getting more and more exited for this season.
