Shadowing the Meredith Alexander Loop

March 9, 2015 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: nice, 50s, sun, spring

Comments:
Started after the distance groups and caught up along Wisc with a lot of pace variations in the first 15 minutes, mostly slow. Doubled back near the Bethesda firehouse and then headed off alone to intercept another group on the Crescent. Pushed the pace decently well along Dorsett, but wasn't feeling very fresh or good. Spotted the group I sought a few hundred meters ahead crossing Dorsett along the trail. Rushed through WES parking lot but got held up by a high. locked gate. Began to climb it as the group was within shouting distance, but I chikcend out when I was standing 8 ft off the ground on the spiked fence with my foot wedged and no graceful option to move forward. Raced around the building to find another gate and fence on the south side of the campus. This one I wedged under thanks to some shallow breaths. While I worked the pace hard to catch back up, I was half a mile back and feeling completely spent. I did catch Karin as they looped behind the GDS soccer field, and jogged it in with her. Left insole is also out of place, despite my efforts and the left toes hang over unpleasantly. Not a very pleasant run... but I nearly pulled off a perfectly timed intercept... could have, should have, would have...
