Long Run

May 9, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Went to Nyack with Zac and Paul. Paul was doing 9 so he ran the first 4.5 with us before turning around. We wanted to practice half marathon pace towards the end of the run so we planned on picking it up the second half. The way out is half gradual uphill then half gradual downhill. We ran about 36:15 for the first 5.5 then the second half was 33:54. My legs were stale the first few miles, probably from not feeling great the past few days. But as we went on, my legs warmed up and I felt better and better. By the time we turned around we were ready to pick it up and I felt good. Even going up the gradual incline, we kept the pace at under 6:20 and it felt smooth. The last two miles flattened out and we cruised in under our goal pace feeling smooth. This run was a great confidence booster a week out from the half marathon. I'll take it easy this week and freshen up my legs and hopefully have a good time at the race next saturday. Splits for the run: 6:49, 6:44, 6:33, 6:33, 6:24, 6:15, 6:19, 6:18, 6:16, 6:02, 5:55
