Foreshadowing run?

June 19, 2015 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: so freaking hot, humid and nasty

Comments:
This wasn't a pleasant run. After a strong effort Wednesday morning, I skimped on stretches and drove my family to Charlottsville, VA. Thursday we spent four hours or so tubing down the James River which left us a little sunburned, then drove a few more hours to Greensboro and joined the Colaizzi brothers for dinner. This morning I headed out after right after breakfast and explored the sprawl of roads near the hotel. Already in the 80s, very hot sun beating down, too soon after eating, too much sitting in cars and pulling inner tubed children through three feet of water, and uninspiring urban sprawl all combined to make this the worst run of my summer to date. I'd hoped for 45 min, but settled for 35 and the pace felt like it must have been over 8 the whole way. I did find a short little trail along a creek in a shady neighborhood and spotted the Greensboro arboretum half way in, but was too exhausted to risk exploring it.

I did not want to tell Tristan about this run as I feared it was a bad sign about the air quality, humidity, and heat. Unfortunately, he not only needed to run through it, he hoped to race a school record in it. That wasn't going to happen today. Instead he fought hard with a bunch of really talented runners, and ran a most respectable 4:21.64 FAT for an English mile. Splits below. A good finish to a looooong season. I'm very proud of what he has accomplished this year.
