First Run Back

June 8, 2015 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Pouring Rain

Comments:
My cousin (who is also a rising sophomore and a cross country/track runner) came into town late last night, so we had a very late start to the day and didn't get out to run until around 8:00. The minute we stepped out of the door it started to rain, but there was no thunder or lightning, so we just accepted the fact that our shoes would be wet for days and took Military to Wisconsin (where there was at least some light). It started to thunder and lightning near the ten-minute mark, so we ended up turning around at around 13 minutes. We both felt like we cold have gone longer, but I had to remind both Eli and myself that this was the first run back and it should have been 20 minutes, max. I guess these first few weeks will take some restraint on good days. There was a lot of lightning on the way back, so we hugged the buildings and sped up the pace a bit. But with the exhilaration of pouring rain and electricity in the air and being able to finally run our quickened pace felt nearly effortless. I know that it would be ridiculous to expect every run to feel like this one, but I'm certainly glad that I started my training on this note.
