Weather: 80, somewhat humid, but really not that bad, mostly overcast

Comments:
Although we pushed it back form 6am for a variety of reasons, Sam McFerran and I still met up at 10:30am and jogged over to AU. He wanted to ruan 5km under 20 minutes and convinced me to run with him. We alternated leading every 800m with him taking the first two laps. He said we needed to keep it at 6:24 pace, but implied we should go stronger if possible and set a solid pace on the first two laps which I tried to moderate. He's been running these time trials for himself for the past few weeks and had run 12:25 for 3200 ten days ago as well as some sub 3 800s a few days back. I, on the other hand, was so unmotivated I cannot express it in words. Alas I know this is kind of work is good for me, and if I'm going to get into six flat pace by mid August, i need to take advantage of opportunities like this when they come my way. I felt fine during the run and wasn't working as hard as Sam, which helped keep me from wimping out. All in all, I'm pleased I did it and that I could run this time in June, but it was also a painful reminder of how far I have yet to go by mid August and how long ago it was I could run 4 miles in this amount of time.
