Didn't want to do the same, repetitive route again, so I managed to find a new, even more repetitive route! We went up to the top of the backside of the mountain because we heard there was a 1.00 mile running loop around the artificial whitewater course. I felt a lot less congested, but still pretty tired. The less than appetizing or healthy lunch did nothing to help my system, so I embarked very groggily. The path was near impossible to find, and once we did discover it, it took me a bit of experimental jogging to understand the map. Total jogging distance is an estimate. Once I figured out the loop, I set out. I couldn't help but check my watch after the first one in order to see if the heavy feeling in my legs was actually translating into a slow pace. It was. I tried the other direction of the loop, which felt a lot better and was a bit quicker. I still felt strangely exhausted and very isolated (part of the loop was actually on the artificial island), so I convinced my brother to join me on his bike for three more laps. My mom also joined in on her bike for the third. For the fifth and final lap, I convinced my dad to take part in the family workout. Each lap was a bit faster than the last, but nothing got tempo-pace out of hand. I dod, however, map the loop and discover that it is actually 1.05 miles, so that first 8:15 mile wasn't as slow as I thought. I'm taking off .05 miles in the total distance, though, just as a mapping/trail renovation/accidental straying from the path fudge factor. Hopefully I can find a steadier pace next run.
