Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Ran in Rock Creek Park today. Ideally, I would have taken today off so as not to have a span of 12 days straight of running, but due to my sick day Monday, I figured that if I felt good enough (which I did) I could just do a slightly easier run for my sixth. I originally figured that meant a shorter run, but I quickly decided that, because I felt good and the park was so nice, I would do an easier, regular-timed run. I started at the Joyce Rd bridge and ran south on the path along the creek until it ended at the intersection of Beach Drive and Broad Branch Rd. I then turned right, cut onto ridge road and went up the winding hill along the road until it intersected with Western Ridge trail, which I followed past the Equestrian area and past one more clearing. Right before the trail took a sharp right, I turned around and headed back. The hills on the way back took a toll on me, and I think I slowed down a fair bit. I was starting to cramp up as well (I'm getting better at remembering to hydrate, though) on the return, but I focused on steady breaths and felt a lot better by the time I got back to the creekside. All in all, today was a pretty nice, relaxed run for a change. I should work on throwing a few more of these into my training to further vary the effort levels and prevent any monotony.
