Comments:
Set my alarm for 7 so I could get a run in early. Ran from the hotel to the right along 34. Dropped down a little road to the lake behind our hotel and looped it on the concrete bike path in a clockwise manner. According to the mile markers, I was usually going at 7:25 pace, but the uphill portions were more like 7:45 and the downhills were 7:15. Took a wrong turn near the end and happily cut off about a half mile by returning to the hotel via route 34. Nothing feels easy running here and I am content to blame it on the elevation (7500 ft) and maybe the tired legs from yesterday's uphill run. After a brunch with the wedding party and some time in downtown Estes (including standing for 15 minutes with my feet submerged in an icy mountain stream), we drove to Boulder and spent the rest of the day hanging out with Walker White and his family (Beth and Everett).
