Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Not a great run. Went down Garfield, turned left on 34th, and took Reno to right before Tilden, where we turned right on the Melvin C. Hazen Trail. After one small detour that took us to Rodman St, we were back on track, and crossed Connecticut, continuing down. We finally reached Western Ridge Trail and took it left across Tilden, continuing on the trail until about 50 meters before the parking lot off of Broad Branch. Fond memories of a pre-season post-camp tempo there almost a year ago. We went pretty slowly the whole way down, in anticipation of a rough way up. Anthony (STA Anthony, that is), Paige, and Danny started speeding up, but I ended up staying in the second group. I though we were slowing down drastically, but we stayed surprisingly steady. Parts of the climb felt significantly worse than yesterday, which I attribute to my unfamiliarity with the route (and thereby my gross overestimation of how much further we had) and my poor nutrition and hydration today. I am, however, getting over my cold. Talked to Anthony (GDS Anthony) about my training, as I was a little worried about doing two runs on the lower end of the 40-45 range when I'm supposed to be doing 45-50, but he told me to think of this week as incorporating more workout-ish runs (out-and-back tempos, hills, etc) instead of five more minutes, and then next week, those five more minutes will be stacked on top of quality runs. Sounds like a plan.
