July 19, 2015 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: HOT! (90-ish)
Comments:
After a nauseating (and scorching) sailboat outing this morning, I felt awful all afternoon. I drank a lot of fluids, tried to recuperate, and cursed myself for not running yesterday. But eventually (eventually being 7:00pm, here), I brought myself to face what has become the desert of DC. All my limbs felt heavy and weak, and it took me about 10 minutes to fall into a rhythm. But once I did, I shocked myself by feeling great and matching the weather's intensity with my own. Went down Military, left on Wisconsin, veered right on 42nd (past GDS), took 42nd to Van Ness, went east on Van Ness, and then took Glover Archbold until past New Mexico, turning around a little bit after the imaginary intersection of the trail and Davis Pl. I slowed down by about 30 seconds on the way back, mostly on the staircases, but all-in-all, I felt fantastic. I just hope we don't have a super hard workout tomorrow...
