Dad's loop at speed.

After resting Tuesday, feeling pathetic to have dodged the 5km race Tuesday, and having over-done things on Monday, I decided I should take a crack at my dad's standard four mile loop at a strong pace. Anna wanted to bike with me, so we looped down to Children's beach and around Hulbert for a bit before I swung my legs and "started" for real. She stayed with me for the first .75 mile and then I sent her back along Walsh. As the first mile split is hard to know for certain, I'm still not sure where I was between 6:50 and 6:30, but I'm pretty confident that I accelerated after that with a second mile near 6:30, a third mile closer to 6:20 and a final mile under 6:15. Still hoping to verify the distance int he car soon. I was undoubtedly working hard in the final 1.5 miles, and I don't know for sure where the fourth mile marker actually hits, but the total time was 26:09, so I was likely sub 26 for four English miles. Generally very pleased to feel this strong and run like this after Monday and yet, I don't see how I'll feel that much friskier to be doing 6:15s or better for three 5-6 mile legs in one day on August 15. We'll see what the taper and some turnover work can do to freshen and sharpen my legs. I just wish I still had another month to "do this thing right."
