Overall I think that today was really well done by all the boys. The pre-workout run wasn't too fast or too slow, and all the boys acknowledged how fit they were feeling and turned back a little early if they hadn't been running much. Our run took us out around Beebe lake, through Cornell Campus, along Triphammer to Community Corners, up to the Church of Siena, up Hanshaw, back to the Horse Barn, and then down into the Plantations. Cole, Simon, and Jeremy all turned back on Pleasant Grove. Cole and Simon came to the workout, but Jeremy, having only run 3 miles a couple of times beforehand wasn't even feeling up to that.

My struggle today as a captain was just trying to keep everybody on track. The runs from Cornell are not as well known as the runs starting from IHS so even though I had a printed out map I tried to run with people who were turning around early so they didn't get lost. However, then I wouldn't be running with the front pack, and they might make a wrong turn or something. The two easy fixes are to just have everybody know the route and then go at their own pace, or split into smaller groups and have on leader who knows the exact route and they always stick together. I think from now on we are going to have a little of both because at IHS we will have several groups based on summer mileage and then the veterans will probably know all their runs.

The workout was the hardest one I have done all year. I think the combination of having both coaches there watching and Jake giving it his all really pushed the rest of the runners, including me, to do our absolute best. After the 3rd repeat I was already feeling the workout but I just kept going. I think I was a little dehydrated because I got a pretty bad headache in the front of my head around the 7th repeat and on the way back, but it cleared up during drills. Hills also make my stomach hurt, even though I try to eat nothing past 4:00 pm for the runs.

We took it back easy and flat as a group, just talking and laughing. We finished with drills, strides, foot drills, and the abs to some of Simon's rap music. Long day but good day.
