I was totally freaking out before the race. I went and bought 29mg iron supplements. I ate only carbs and did yoga and took a huge scoop this weird stuff my dad takes before his runs sometimes. And I was snacking on these energy bean things and sipping at powerade. I probably went a little overboard on energy stuff because I was shaking and felt like I was about to bounce off the walls for about a half hour before the run.
And it was the weirdest run ever. I don't know if it was one thing I did different or the combination of what I did but the whole run I couldn't feel anything except my feet pounding the ground.
My legs didn't feel like they were moving I can't even describe it. I just stayed where I needed to the whole time, I made sure I was number 7 of the girls (besides Coach Liz), maybe it would have been cool to see how fast I went before I started to feel like I was working hard. When I finished I felt like I'd just walked a mile or something.
So weird. I probably shouldn't do that again. But yeah, I'm really excited because I've never ran Jimmy Driscoll on varsity before.
