Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Great country run. Impossible to map. Went out from a family friend's house up a road for about a quarter of a mile before it turned into a nice and wide trail. I followed that for what I recalled to be around half a mile from a family hike, but what actually tuned out to be a little over two miles, from my estimates. I turned left at the trail intersection, hoping to make my way up to the AT. Unfortunately, the trail was comprised of brutal, never-ending, steep switchbacks, as well as frequent spiderwebs. At some point during the run, I found a large, light stick with which I could get the webs out of my way and not be too weighed down. After frequent spiderweb-cleansing breaks (they were most definitely brutal hill breaks as well), I made my way back down without ever reaching the actual Appalachian Trail. The footing was so bad that I barely got to speed up on the way down. I thought that I had made the whole downhill section without injury, but in the last few steps before the intersection, I face planted. Luckily, I was all good, and had a great stretch of trail on the way back.
