September 16, 2015 (Morning)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Warm
Comments:
Practice starting from Towne would have had us van somewhere, but one of the upperclassmen quietly suggested that we do "d-lo" which was met with unanimous approval. Named for alum Dustin Lopez, the route involved running on railroad tracks for a long stretch before having to swim across a small stream to continue along some trails; some of this last part must have been ad libed. Before the crossing we tried to throw our shoes so as to prevent them from getting wet and most people, myself included, missed the opposite bank. At Cole for "dessert" we had 5x300m on the grass at mile effort with somewhere between 1.5 and 2 minutes of recovery. I felt much better than expected during these, given my morning run.
A pearl of wisdom Zeke and I both received from Jay was that, "you just can't be a headcase [about occasionally missing training, etc.] You just have to believe you're fit." This resonates with one of Anthony's remarks about how in college he would sometimes convince himself he was out of shape and then suffer for it when in reality he was prepared.
