They got me. For me the upperclassmen's hype worked a little too well and I had some difficulty focusing in my afternoon classes. Peter told me that we would do a 3k time trial and then be assigned the rest of the workout based on our performance in that. In fact, they did such a good job setting the stage for the dreaded Plansky workout, that I had no suspicion whatsoever of the prank, and even after Pete had Zeke read, "Four qwathas in 80-82" on a commemorative t-shirt, it didn't fully dawn on me that that would be it. Up until that point we had run the warmup in silence, stopping and kneeling various sites on campus, including Plansky's grave. After the workout, which felt good, we did some strengthening drill with Sara: donkey kicks, clams, fire hydrants, backwards lunges and T-stretches. In 103 years of cross country, Williams has only had three coaches, Steely, Plansky and Farwell. I wish I could have cooled down more, but I had to rush off to a jazz rehearsal.
