Comments:
Another Sunday, another endless, rural dirt road. The road this time was called Mt. Cedar, in Pownal, VT. Because it would not be a progression, I took my chances with the top group today, but at around an hour, my legs decided that they didn't want to, so I fell back with Austin and Zeke, but remained silent for the rest of the run, though I did feel good. At 1:33, I stopped and had some gatorade before extending out and back along Route 346.
I am happy about this long run: glad that I did it. But what is it about running with a group one minute that is 110 meters ahead of you the next, that is so infuriating? Is it because I have a history of running at the backs of groups that subconsciously bothers me? Is it because I would like to show off my fitness, but--comparatively--have nothing to show off? Whatever the case, next summer, I'll just have to prepare for long runs EVEN MORE.
Overall, considering where I was at Purple Valley and the run on 9/27, the past six days of runs have been pretty great. But now I am looking for a little more return on investment. That means aiming for about 62 miles this week, deliberately getting MORE SLEEP for the love of God, and shortening or cutting out my Wednesday double.
