DC STATE CHAMPIONS!! THE BEST IN DC!! So proud of all my teammates, both boys and girls!! Great job today to everyone! :) :) :) An especially inspiring moment was when we were all standing by the finish line waiting to see who was going to come out of the woods. First of course was taylor knibb. And then we were all saying that it would definitely be Maayim (spelling?) who had been way ahead of our girls when we last saw them. But to our surprise, out popped Katherine, with Abby soon after. I think consistently throughout the day (from what I saw) GDS runners would head into the woods behind and come out ahead. It says a lot about our team that we used both the uphill and downhill in that section to our advantage. Racing with both strength and smarts.congrats to everyone :)

my race was better than last week for sure, so hopefully this upward trajectory will give me a great race at the end of the season. I've been getting sick again this past week. My coughing has been worse and this morning I was lightheaded and nauseous. We also had a very shortened warm-up, so between the two of those things and my nerves, my legs felt really dead and tired during the first half. I think I really should have gone out harder and pushed more in that first part and I'm really disappointed that I didn't. I feel better about the second half. Starting with that hill by the road I passed a bunch of people and I think I handled the big hill well. it was really great to have Michelle and Jenna near me for much of the race. they kept me going. I don't actually know my time but I know it was in the 25s :( i know it was a slow course, but still.
I also caught 4 leaves!!!!!
