Exercise Type: Run
Weather: stormy, humid
Comments:
Felt really good today. Not as tight as usual, and felt more powerful. It could be the cooler weather, but it seems like this is sort of a jump-up period in the stair-step feeling of training. I was expecting to feel tired and soar in my upper body from mowing hay yesterday.
Ran for 20 minutes out on the fields until it started to storm. Went in to a KAC treadmill and did 45 minutes at a 2 percent incline, going steadily from 8.0 mph to 9.5 mph (increasing 0.1 mph every three minutes). It was a great workout and when I finished, I brought the incline down to zero and bumped up the pace to an equalivalent "MET." It had it at 5:48 pace for that, so I'd say the 2 percent incline made the run about 30 seconds per mile harder than usual on a treadmill. But running flat on a treadmill is basically like running on a track with a 9mph tail-wind. Never gonna happen. The progression was getting pretty tough towards the end, but it wasn't unbearable. It would've been a stretch to do 15 more minutes up to 10.0 mph.
Finished outside while it was sprinkling. Did 25 minutes on campus grass. Had I continued on to 15 miles, then I probably would've tightened up quite a bit since a lot of the run was fast and on the harder-surface treadmill.
