Weather: 60 and mostly cloudy

No practice today. After picking up the girls I went in search of leaves. Decided early on that I could run to AU and back. Decided a few blocks away that I should do a light workout to prepare for the community race at Nike. When I got to the track, I could see there was a local high school team that seemed pretty focused, fast, and independent about to start their workout. I tried to stay out of their way and began what I decided would be 4x300 with 100m recovs. After a strong fourth, I convinced myself to run a fifth as I had a bit of time to spare and knew I hadn't worked very hard yet. Then jogged back home. Caought three leaves on the day and the season total now stands at 73. I'd meant to get out earlier int he day when more were falling, but I kept getting caught up doing work. Either way, I felt pretty good about the workout. Times below. I need new shoes, and ordered some today at the Running Co. Feet and lower legs are often so tight I hobble every time I get out of bed. Ball of the right foot was fairly unhappy today in the old orange New Balance shoes.

17:00 to jog over through AU park in an an indirect way with leaves on my mind.

18:00 to run home through AU park with a two block (70 second) sprint up the last two blocks of Albemarle to Wisc... another spontaneous effort to prolong the workout.

PS. That high school team looked quite good, in fact, but I think I can take out run most of them at the NXN meet in NC.
