Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
I placed 15th today in the Florida Holiday Half Marathon! I ran a time of 1hour 25 minutes and 39 seconds. That's two minutes faster than the half marathon I ran on October 31st but I am still about 3 minutes slower than my best time last year. Today was pretty humid but I still managed a good start running with the lead pack averageing 5:50/mile through the first five miles. At five miles they started to get faster and I started to get slower, dropping to about 6:20 pace. The last three miles where really tough, fatigue, dehydration and leg crammping started to overwhelm me and I had 4 challengers quickly approaching. With two miles left in the 13 mile race I had to decide if I was going to let these four competitors pass me or if I was going to make a push towards the finish line! I didn't want to give up my spot and I recognized two of the competitors, they normally don't beat me and I could tell they where gunning for me! With everything I had left and pushing through the pain I laid down the proverbial hammer! I pumped my arms, opened the stride and started the kick towards to the finish line. I was able to hold off three of them but one guys kick the last 100meters was to much for me! Although I am pleased with the race I still have some work to do. My next race is January 17th at the Clearwater Distance Festival. My goal is to break 1 hour and 24 minutes.
