Lacey talked me out of doing my third consecutive Blair instead of which we ran HoFo at 3pm, making a loop on the carriage path. Felt great, and the time flew by. In the fieldhouse I did six, long striders and determined that I am not, in fact, out of shape. It's just a matter of getting IN shape. Speaking of which . . .

I told Sarah my grand plan, which she approved, and then ran it by Nick who had the gall to say, "I'm not convinced you need to do 65 or more miles per week." Well, Nick, I don't NEED to do any of this! I was discussing this with Zeke earlier today too; essentially over the summer I thought, okay, I'm going to train hard and be 100 percent prepared for college running. That didn't really work, lots of mistakes, bla bla bla, I've already written about that. But THEN I had the period leading up to Smith of 50-something mile weeks where I was feeling great and ran a decent 5k. I was lying awake last night thinking 1) I haven't actually gotten that much better, 2) anyone who's made anything of himself on this team has done 65 or more mpw and 3) maybe I wasn't ready to make that jump the first time around, but surely I am now. Aren't I? I just can't help suspecting that I'm undertrained, I want to get to the next level, but am frankly scratching my head as to how.
