Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Did the same run as a week ago but just took a different turn at one point. I ran on trails for probably like half of the run and they were all covered in a good amount of snow so I was slipping around and it worked my legs a little more than usually. Was pretty much unconsciously pushing the pace. I was breathing a little hard but my legs felt fine. Legs felt pretty good, but I'm going to keep it much easier tomorrow to get a little recovery. Saw Hunter playing pond hockey near the golf course. The pace was overall consistent throughout the run. I like where my fitness is at. It gives me confidence that I can do a 10 miler like this, this early in the season. This week I'll be looking at getting hopefully 45-48 miles in 6 runs so that's about 7.5-8 miles per run. I've been looking at mileage per run more than total mileage because I'm trying to take one off day a week. After some more weeks I'll start running 7 days a week. I'll be on about a 7 day one off schedule now and eventually get to 10 days 1 off. At my peak training Ill probably be doing a 14 day cycle where I do 13 on 1 off. But that will be later in the season. For now I'm just focusing on base work. Slowly building my fitness while increasing my workload a little bit each week. Just keeping momentum going. I've just tried to run through my cold while staying on plan. I'm slowly getting better which is good. Did some tough lifting afterwards. Really pushed the form lifting mostly my hips and glutes Knee drive was emphasized. I need strong hips to help make my form more efficient and so I am able to hold my form throughout the entirety of a race and finish strong. Also focused on upper body as well but not as much. Finished with abs.
