Spencer trails

March 7, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Very pumped for the season I was just waiting for the practice to start all day and even though we did have to wait for Parker and the coaches to all talk it was a good day in all. Happy that coach drew is back I was getting worried with what would happen with the hurdlers and high jumpers. Just like cross the amount of guys on the distance team is slim. We were missing like 5-6 guys and had maybe 9-10 guys there so we were missing a significant amount of guys. But still that means we have no room for errors like injuries and inconsistencies. We have to be firing at all cylinders in every event no matter which one we are in. Everyone has to be ready to step up. In the upcoming days in going to try to stress the "next man up" mindset where you really have to ready for anything and hold your own. You might get called on for a race out of nowhere and might hate the event or something but you have to be ready to step up and take it on. I am also ready mentally for the fact that I am going to have to double or even triple in some meets if I have to. All of us top guys are gonna have to double in ever meet so we are gonna have to be ready for that. Anyways today we started with a mile around the track. The we headed out to spencer trails. The pace we had was fine. Glad Guidi will be sticking it out with us and actually working hard with us this year he did about 8 miles today because he was with us the entire time and even did extra strides with me afterwards. He could have some potential if he keeps working and fixes those arms. We had a new kid so I introduced myself to him. He isn't that fast but he sure is dilligent and he works hard. He did the entire run even after I said that he can turn around if he was feeling bad. He was sprinting behind us at some points. That's the problem with having so little people is that there isn't a JV team so some people fall behind. The new kid from California isn't running. The sprinters are also slim. The keep asking me if I'm doing the 400 this year. I already have a lot on my plate but I'm willing to step up and get some 4x4s under me. Got back from the extended spencer trails run and Silas and Ian didn't extend it. Then we went out and did strides. I felt very smooth during strides in feeling just like I did last outdoor season something that I haven't felt like in almost a year. If I can stay like this feeling smooth and loose through outdoor and cross I can have son good seasons. The strides were 8x100 with a 100m recovery. I pushed these a little cause I felt good. Then I did 3 laps of barefoot running afterwards.
