Exercise Type: Run

This was a good overall meet. I felt fairly good for the times that I hit not going even close to my full speed yet. But the main thing that made the meet good was that I was having a lot of fun. I was energetic most of the time especially after the 2k and I sprinted around cheering on my teammates. Started with the team warmup(800 meters) then we did the team warmup circle and we were actually loud this time. Then we all split up and me, Neil, Hunter, Silas, and Ian did our warmup for the 2k. We went down into fall creek and did a 5-5-5 progressive warmup. To be honest I felt pretty bad on this warmup. I was working extra hard for some reason. But I didn't really lose any confidence because for 1. It was a practice meet so I didn't care if I had a bad race. 2. I had trust in my training and just knowing that I put a good winters worth of running in will be something that I gotta take with me throughout the season and use for confidence. We got back and did a bunch of drills and strides since we ended our warmup too early. I decided to rock my spikes from last year. Weishaar wanted me to go out in mid to high 70's for the first 2 laps of the 2k then get faster for the rest of the 1200m. We hopped on the track and I hardly had any nerves at all I was just excited to be back. We started and I just got in my own zone I might not have been completely alone but I felt like it. I started in a 78. From there I stopped checking my watch. I was breathing normally the first 2 laps. The next lap felt like another 78. After that lap I slowly increased my pace as I was trying to find my normal pace for the mile. It was hard to find to be honest because I was completely alone and it's been awhile. I'm gonna have to learn to run by myself at some point and I'm gonna have to learn pacing at some point too for mile and 2 mile. The 3rd lap I progressively quicker. The second to last lap my breathing got harder but my arms were not that good I just felt out of rhythm and weird out there but I just kept trying to push. I got going faster at the 600 mark. Then at the 400 mark I got a little faster and finally at 200 I got a little faster again. Just like weishaar wanted me to do. I never felt the need to go into my full kick with 200 left. I had it there but didn't feel the need to pull it out. It's cool that I just have it there whenever I want and can turn it on or decided to not use it. Finished and dabbed at the end, had to do it for team blue. Then I turned around and cheered the rest of the guys on. Neil and Silas were very close at the end. The guys looked like they had a very good pack behind me at the end. Forgot how fun it was racing. Right after the race I knew that I had a lot left. I wasn't breathing that hard at all and never really felt that tingly feeling. Can't wait to feel that again and embrace the pain. I probabaly could've dropped another 10 seconds from my time with the fitness I have but I held back unintentionally. Either way it was a good race even taking all the wind out there. First 800 was around a 2:36 which was a little slow but closed in 3:24 which was a fairly good pace for 1200 after 800 meters just above 5 min pace. So I close in a little over 4:30 pace. We cooled down for 10 mins and then warmed up again for 5 mins with some strides. Next was the 4x4. My team was me, Hunter, Abe, and Joe. A pretty stacked team. I was the lead off leg. I started out quick and ended quick the only thing you can really do in the 400. I have no clue what my splits were I just ran. Again I didn't feel all that tired afterwards and I was just running all alone again so it was a little hard to push myself. Hit a 54 which wasn't that bad being this early and with no one pushing me. Hoping for close to 50-51 splits near the end of the season if I have to hop in 4x4s. Got done and did a long cool down. A lot of the guys did less but Ronan and Shea did about 10 with me and Ian who did 16 and just talked about captain stuff. Then we finished watching pole vault where nick John went 14 feet easily !!!! That's just crazy. We had a few no names running very well today like Kevin Cheung in the 400(55) and Nathan in the 100. These guys looked very strong and will make a impact this year. At the end I was the last person on the track and did some barefoot running. Went to the locker room and we were bumpin. Abe and Joe were freestyling and going in, just a fun overall time.
