Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
My goal for this race was to run out of my comfort zone, and also to beat last years time.
I feel like i accomplished it one time during my race by surging forward to pass a small group of 3 runners. And i did beat my time from last year :) Last year i got 26:21 and i got 25:52 this year.
I feel like i should have started picking up the pace a lot sooner than i did. A couple times i made it up to a group, but instead of passing them i just stayed with them. If i had just kept passing them i think i could have moved up a lot more. That's what i could have done better.
What i think i did great was i was just trying to get up to Keri. She looked like she was in pain and i knew if i could get up to her we could keep each other going till the end, which we did, we finished together :)
My first mile i think i was feeling pretty good. It was so awesome to get my warm ups off, when i got them off i felt super light! Haha I remember we were supposed to be feeling good at the first mile and that was probably the point where i did feel the best during the race.
the second mile was a lot harder for me with those little hills. Haha. They didn't seem that big until you got to them and then i was like wow these are steep. The microphone (cant remember what its called) was great! I could hear people cheering for meridian on it all the way on the far side of the field where nobody was. That helped me
The third mile was were i realized Kerri wasn't too far ahead of me so i was just concentrating on getting up to her. When i finally did we ran together the rest of the way, i finished right behind her :) I had that energy at the end of the race again! I can still remember last year i would always finish practically jogging to the finish line with tons of people passing me. But this year i can get myself to speed up and pass thoes people before the finish!
I really hope i can get faster. I'm feeling pretty slow. Compared to everybody else. But I'm working on it!
I'm really sorry you didn't get to see the varsity races Rusty. I feel really bad :/
