Was so much fun to be on the track again. Before my race I skipped the first 2 parts of the progressive warm up and just did 5 mins of tempo to try and not fatigue out my legs so much. Was nervous before hand but as soon as the gun went off and I was watching the girls go all nerves went away. I knew I was going to be slow but I didn't think I'd be THAT slow. My first lap I went out and thought I was hitting perfect mile pace but apparently it was really slow, like 3k slow...whoops. Abbey Wheeler came flying past which I expected. Aerobically I felt fine, but my legs felt like 20 pound weights. Crossed the line and felt okay except for a dull stiff pain in my problem area on my right leg. Got our times from Weishaar and acknowledged the fact that I had actually just run that slowly in a race. Looking back at the beginning of cross season, I could have run significantly faster than that for a 5k...oh well. Not upset about the time or anything though because I'm just so happy that I got to do some racing of some sort, because at the beginning of the season I wouldn't be able to. With no base, I don't think this is going t be a speedy season for me, but I'd rather race slow than not race at all. After the race we picked up our t-shirts, which were larges. Overall, girls came 2nd and guys won, so a pretty solid night all around.
