Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Mainly used today as a workout so I could get a little speed work in. Was in the 4x8, 800, and 4x4 today. Started with the team warmup, then went right into our warmup for the 4x8. The team was, Simon, me, Ian, and Neil. Everyone besides Simon was supposed to go as easily as possible while still getting a workout in. Simon ran really well for his leg, hitting 2:11 which is a solid time. I got the baton right next to Elmira kid and ended up being 100m ahead of him at the end. I just coasted the entire time, I did feel fairly tight as my neck and back had been very bad lately. Ian hit a 2:14 and Neil hit 2:17. We won by a good amount. I cooled down, then watched the 1600 where Neil's quads hurt so he stayed back and Cardemone had an alright race. Me and Hunter then warmup up for the 800. I was taking this one a little more seriously because I really didn't know how fast I would have to run to get the win. The race started and I immediately went right behind Cardemone. He wanted to run 2:00 but he was going out really slow. I was content with it because I knew the slower we went out the easier I would be to win with the kick. We went out in 65, very slow. I was just waiting to go whenever. Though sometimes others feel confidence leading the race, as they feel like the pacing is in their hands, I feel most confident sitting on someone. When I am sitting on someone, confidence just rushes though me. I feel like I can see all their moves before they make them and counter them. I can see how they're hard they are going and just wait to make my move when they start to slow down. I guess that's just the kind of track racer I am and I feel the most comfortable there. The next lap I was still right behind Cardemone and Hunter made a very aggressive move at 250. It caught everyone by surprise. He moved into first and I moved up beside him to box in Cardemone. I still waited to turn on the kick until there was 100m left and hit 2:05. Once again warmed up and cooled down before my 4x4. Cheered on Ian in his 3200. He was running great but lost a little comfidence at the end. Not bad for his first 3200 though. Next for me was the 4x4. The race started with Kevin Cheung who went out very quickly. He got us literally a 50m lead for the race. He ran a 53-high. Next was Hunter, he ran a 59 high. I got the baton and really just started sprinting. I really loosened up in this race. I came through the 200 in 26, then charged my form up to my sprinting form to finish. Closed hard in a 25 for a new pr in 51. I was pretty pumped, I really just raced and it showed what I could run when I was loose. Derran finished it off with a 53 high. Pretty solid 4x4. I didn't think I would be able to run that sort of time but the speed work Saturday gave me confidence. Cooled down with Hunter to finish the day off and did ins and outs.
