Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
We got up at like 8 and went on a short shakeout run around the mall. I felt so tired and my legs felt heavy. We left the hotel at 11 and watched the 1600's when we got there. Then Lizzy and I went to watch javelin. The weather was soo much nicer then yesterday it was sunny and warm. During our warmup we stopped to take a picture with Aiden Tooker!! My legs really hurt during the warmup but I just ignored it and otherwise I felt pretty good. All day i was super nervous but I just tried not to think about my race. Whenever i would have a thought like "what if i get last" or "what if i fall" i would get it out of my brain and think about all my training and good races. I kept telling myself that I was gonna do well and pr and that i could get better than my seed. We checked in and did strides, then went into the bullpen area and watched guys steeple. One kid had to be driven out by the trainer and I was thinking "omg thats gonna be me!" When the boys second heat went off my heat went out to the infield. I was talking with the girls and they were all so nice! We were all really scared and it was so helpful talking to them so I didnt get as nervous, especially cause Lizzy was in a different heat. Before i knew it we were on the track and the gun went off. I got out pretty quickly and got over the first barrier well, I actually ended up hurdling all the barriers. I was most nervous for the first lap cause it would be so crowed but it wasnt that bad. I got over the first water jump but i landed with two feet and unfortunately I did that everytime. I tried to push off but I got to scared and just jumped. I definitely need to work on this and hopefully it will cut off some time. My stomach was hurting a lot, i also felt really hot during the race and I was almost looking forward to the water pitt each time to cool off but it didnt help. I finished with a 12 sec pr and i think i came in 5th in my heat and 16th overall so i was happy with that but i didnt feel very satisfied with my race. I guess i just want to get a better time. I always feel like im going much slower in steeple so its hard to feel like i put it all out there but i know I did. Lizzy raced 7:42, she didnt have a great race but I know 100% that she can beat Emily Niu, she just needs to build up the confidence again and work on the mental aspect. We did a 20 min cooldown then watch the guy's 4x800, I'm not sure what place they got but they did ok. It sounded like a ton of people at Parkhurst did really well and girls almost got 1st! I wish we could have been there but I'm so glad i came here and got to race with more competition and see so many fast people race.
