first of all, if you read this, thank you for your log, Noah. It was really touching and I think we're all lucky to have gotten to be on this team with you.
met Rhianna and Abby to do the workout that we're missing tomorrow for our quest. we were all originally planning to do a 1600 meter time trial, but that didn't quite happen. We ended up at Wilson's track because we thought AU would be practicing at the time we planned to go and because some people decided to ignore the plan of going to St. Johns. Wilson's track is short-exactly 342 meters (tx beacon) and we couldn't find the 1600 meter mark because the paint was very faded. After we warmed up, we spent a long time looking for the mark and trying to figure out how to make a 1600 meter race from the distances that we did know. (Some of the paint was faintly visible.) Most of those ways involved us turning around mid race and going back the other direction, so eventually we decided to not do a time trial. Since I'm not likely to race a 16 or a 32 at states, I did the Mid D workout instead, while abby and rhianna did the distance workout. but we also couldn't find the 400 meter mark, so I did 4x342 and 4x200 with roughly equal recovery. It was honestly one of the worst workouts of my life. I can't remember ever feeling this defeated during a workout. I was crampy (probably from the crazy amount of sushi I ate a couple of hours earlier at lunch), asthmatic, and just tired. that would have been fine, except that I was entirely alone. I really realized the importance of a group today. the motivation that comes from having teammates around you is tremendous. honestly I might have quit all together if Rhianna and Abby weren't also at the track with me. my times were really slow and I felt horrible at the end of each interval. I stopped for a few seconds after each and ended up walking for a bit after one of the 200s. When I finished my last one I just sat down. I have really never felt so defeated or miserable in a workout. oh also, if I haven't complained enough already, my shins were the worst they've been all season.
we did make it back in time for the sports banquet, which was nice, even though I cried a lot. I'm really sad the season is ending, and despite how crappy I felt today, I wish I were coming back for more crappy workouts with the team next year.
