Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
I got to practice and talked to the mod squad for a little bit, then we went on our long run for the week. We are starting to cut back on the mileage a little bit so we'll be more fresh for our last meets. Today at practice there was no one there really, hardly and sprinters at all showing up. Coach wanted up to do 60-75 mins. We headed out towards Giles, then we headed towards Commonland but decided that we wanted to run on the trails that led out to burns because they are pretty fun. Ran by potters falls, which I forgot how nice they were, then we decided that burns would be too much so we went up to the highway and ran along it until we got to Commonland and went along the top trail that is less steep. Got back into Giles trails and went back down to the commons where we finished our run. It was pretty hard to map this run to be honest. I got about 9.1 miles but I always add on a few more tenths of a mile because I map wirhough doing every little turn so this run would come out to be about 9.4 miles. Got back and did foot drills. Then I talked with Weishaar, Baker, and Parker for a little bit. We talked about how the number of people on the track team has gone down progressively the past few years and how we just need more guys. I think I'm gonna start trying to recruit other people to the team, not just from the middle schools but from high school also. I made a list of people who I'm gonna talk to. But before cross I'm going to tell everyone to talk to at least 5 friends who aren't doing anything this fall about joining the cross team, we really need to build up our numbers and depth. I also talked to Weishaar about pushing myself in races. I compared last year to this year, and last year because I raced the duel meets and stuff I had enough hard efforts to know how to get the most out of myself by stacs but this year I haven't been in enough all out races to get enough out of myself. Like I feel like the season just started yesterday. Yes I've had some hard efforts in the 800, but the 800 is not the 1600 and 3200 where you can find ways to get a lot more out of yourself. I feel like if I can keep getting a little more out of myself in the next meet I'll be all set to run fast at state quals and states. It's like those ME kids who have been running so fast. They've been in a lot more very hard races than we have so they are sharp right now, and can get everything out of themselves. I felt like if I took the pace over yesterday I could've gotten at least 15 more seconds faster out of myself. Just something to focus on in the meets to come.
