Did today's workout with just Neil. Ian and Ronan had to do it at 7 am, Hunter couldn't make it, and Silas was away. We met at the Cornell track and started with a warmup around beebee. I gotta say my neck has been really sore for the past 2 days and I really felt it in this workout, I couldn't really get a good rhythm going, and my neck just felt sore. It's weird, the problem is mainly the front of my neck. When we got back we did a 400m tempo on the track, it ended up being too fast as we were trying to get the feel for it again. We hit a 78 after just slowing it down in the last 50. Hit 78. Then we got right into some strides, and then the workout.
3x (2x200, 1x400) goal pace: 31-32 // 64
Recovery: 200 jog between 200's 400 jog in between sets
Me and Neil went single file and just aimed for our paces. I started out strong, but I could tell my form was off. These 200's felt tougher than they normally do, so I was just gonna grind out the workout. Me and Neil were talking about how different it is running a certain pace in a race compared to a workout. It feels much easier. The next 200 I went a little slow, so I made sure to keep the next 400 at the goal pace. Hit 31/33/64 for the first set. Next set I went a little bit more fast. I felt like my neck was loosening out a little bit, so it became easier to hit the times. Hit 31/31/61 for this set. Sorta killed that 400, I just wanted to make sure I didn't leave too much for the last set. I was definitely out of breath after that 400. It got really hot for the last two sets- around 85 degrees so we were feeling that too. The last set I wanted to focus on staying smooth and not going out so hard for each rep, just keeping a smooth consistent pace. Hit 31/30/61. Tried to keep the last 400 in check by going out slower but of course I intsinctively killed the last 200 of the 400. Once we were done we went down tower and ran around the art quad for a little bit and came back up. Stretched afterwards.
