Taughannock park

June 12, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Last long-ish run of the year. Went on a really nice but tough run. Started out by going out halfway to the falls but couldn't go all the way because a Avalanche had just happened. I probably should have not hopped the fence that said do not enter. Anyways headed back and then did a loop around the park and then headed all the way up to the top of Taughannock, which took me through a campsite. This was a tough hill to get up so it was good that I got a little more effort into today's run. Got to the top and ran on the upper run trails. These nice trails that go around the top of the falls. These are some of my favorite trails. Went across the bridge on the top and then went along the black diamond trail for half a mile before turning around and going half a mile back. Flew down the other side of the upper run trails because it was all downhill. And finished with another big loop around the park. Was a nice overall run, almost all on trails. Was extremely happy to hear that I made it to nationals officially. I wasn't sure if I was going to make it this year but I was happy that I ran well enough to get in. I just didn't want my season to end on a bad note. Obviously my last race wasn't a bad note but I mean having my season end when I thought I was going to nationals but didn't make it. The best thing about nationals is going to be that I won't really know anyone in my race. They will just be bodies to race against. I won't have any expectations for them and will be able to focus on myself and just race. Still hasn't hit me that I'm the school record holder for the mile. It's cool to think that out of all the amazing runners to come out of the school that I'm up there with them and even the best in one event. Even though this year isn't done, it's been good to start cementing myself in the legacy of Ithaca track and cross country. Next year's gonna be epic in both cross and track though. This weekend will be a great learning experience as I said before and I'm going into it hungrier than ever.
