Comments:
Had a great workout today. Today we just focused on race specific plug so I get the feel for Saturday. It was a pretty easy workout. But it served it's purpose. Started with a 20 min warmup into fall creek then headed back to the track, wanted s to get the full 20 mins so I went for a lap around the field next to the track. Did 1' at 2 mile pace and the did a few strides and started the workout was:
2x300 at mile pace
4x200 at mile pace
2x100 to practice on starts
Recovery was a jog back/ until my breathing was back to normal
Throughout the entire workout I just felt fairly smooth. My arms felt great at I was hitting the paces perfectly, even going a little fast but consistently fast for the 200's. My first 2 300's were 48 and 47. Both of these I went out quick and settled into a pace that felt smooth. I was trying to just memorize the pace that I was running at for Saturday. Next I went to the 200's. These felt a little fast but that was because I would go out hard and settle into a pace. They all felt the same throughout difficulty wise even though I was supposed to be getting tired through the workout. Hit 31-31-30-30. Next Weishaar wanted to practice on getting out hard from the line. I was supposed to go out hard for the first 80 meters then settle into a good pace. This will set me up for the rest of the race. The first one was from the inside of the track. Then I decided that I wanted to try a start from the outside of the track because I'm not sure if I'll be in the fast or the slow heat on Saturday. Felt strong going out hard. Finished the day with a nice cooldown through the bird sanctuary. I'm ready to go on Saturday, if the paces in the race feel as easy as this did for me I should be ready for a PR, even if I'm in the fast or slow heat.
