Mystery Prius Revealed

June 20, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Today was my first run of summer training. I got a big ass training packed (14 pages) in the mail from my new coach. I thought Anthony was the longest winded person I'd ever meet but Pete is giving him a run for his money. I'm doing the lowest mileage option (max summer mileage 35 in a week) and mixing in cross training. The packet also includes a chart listing what your pace should be for various things based on 5k time. The slowest time the chart lists is 23 min, so still a full minute faster than I've ever run. The steady day pace for that is supposed to be 9:40, which I wasn't too happy about. It feels like a regression to be told to run a minute slower than i usually do. But pushing too hard on steady days is probably part of why I get injured so much. So, official summer goal: run slower. Day 1 didn't go that well. My extended family got me a running watch for graduation so I could see my pace as I went. I'd try and slow myself down but every time I stopped looking at the watch my pace would drop down to 8:30 or 8:40. I got kinda tired at about 15 min in and then my pace slow down but I felt better in the last few minutes and sped up again. When I got back I did crazy planks (15 secs each), clams, stretched and rolled. Also went climbing and biked a lil bit later in the day. Glad to finally be back to running! I definitely missed it over my break.
