Exercise Type: Run

Weather: grand

Comments:
I had the best time this weekend! I got to know a lot more people on the team, and I got to see some INCREDIBLE performances. I'm so excited for the rest of season.

I'll just say this now haha I didn't feel that great in the race. I felt amazing the first two miles I guess but after that I couldn't believe how tired and sleepy (haha) I felt. I kind of feel like an idiot for staying up late the night before we left, but I had fun staying up and that's all that matters haha. I'm so excited how well everyone did though. I am proud of how I did, (19:33 got me ranked 8th in the state!) and I hope that with better (and smarter) sleep as well as harder training I can stay in the top 10.

The first mile was fun! Me and Sora started off together and I LOVE starting off with her. We passed a lot of people gradually. Haha there was even this huge pack of those glacier girls (wow, they are amazing!) and all four of them were lined up going the same pace, so me and Sora literally had to run off the course to get around them! Haha, it was fun. I saw the rocky girl in front of me and I didn't think I should catch her in the first mile because I think she always starts off fast. Anyways, I had fun the first mile. For some reason I didn't really like that hill haha but oh well. I felt great in the first mile working with Sora.

The second mile was great as well actually. I felt great, ready to go. I'm not sure if we passed anyone, but I tried that counting thing with the rocky girl in front of us, and it worked! But we didn't catch her, we just got closer and closer to her. I think it was right before the second mile was over that my eyes felt really heavy and tired and my "mental alertness" was not doing very well. I remember looking up and watching the crowd cheer for me, and it was weird because usually in a race I'm so focused that I forget there are people there. I became very unfocused I think in the last part of the two mile. Other than that it was great.

The third mile. Haha, it was pretty brutal for me. I tried my best to focus and keep my eyes open, but it was so hard. That lack of sleep from the past two days finally came over me. Maybe I was just tired from going so fast, I don't know. But I do know that I'm the kind of person who doesn't funciton well with lack of sleep. It could have been a combination of both, but oh well. I let Sora do her thing (which she did AMAZING!!) and I stuck with my own plan. I kept telling myself you only have to finish in the top 10! I got 10th, (I think) and it was alright. I got passed by a lot of people in the end. That mob of glacier girls passed me right at the end. I was so discouraged because I felt like I should have done better. I tried my best with the way I felt though. At the end, I was so tired I just wanted to go to sleep. I had no clue if I broke 20 and was really anxious and delirious kinda haha. I don't know, I just think I got a learning experience from the feeling of the last mile. I know I could have passed that rocky girl, but I let my negative thoughts push me back. I was so close in the second mile! Ah!

So pretty much I think that Kerrie's race made my day. She almost made me cry I was so happy!! I love how when she has a goal, she is focused. I hope she achieves her goal :) I'm so happy for her!!! AH!

The teams did AMAZING. I saw some incredible races! Seriously, I mean Lila, I'm so proud of her! She is a freshman and already broke 20! Yay! And Sora did amazing as well and I have no doubt she can compete with the top two girls for that state title. As for jv, man they were so good. I always love how silverwood pumps up the team! The course is fast and all, but I always think about how there are difficult parts to it (I think) and the fact that our team can PR as much as they do, I think it's amazing! I'm soooooo pumped for this year! We have a group of amazing kids, I love it!

Anyways, that's pretty much what happened. I am mad at myself, but I won't dwell on it because I am ready to come back (the right way) and show up at these next meets. I mean, I even broke 20! On a bad day haha.

By the way, Meridian is ranked second after Silverwood. That's insane haha.

Can't wait for an insanely difficult course next week! :)

By the way....I'm SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO TIRED.
