Fun run

July 5, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Great run today. Mapped it out to 7.29 miles. It was 7.09, but I had to add on for tangents because when I mapped trails I went straight through and didn't map the turns. Had a very strong pack even with a lot of our guys away on vacation. I showed up early to talk to B about the season and college stuff and then when everyone else showed up. I showed them the 2 maps that I printed out of the runs that we were doing today. The first was exactly 5 miles for JV. And it was right around exactly 7 mile for varsity. Varsity's run was through the plantations trails, up to horse barn, down freese and up a tough hill to game farm and back. For JV when they got to the horse barn they took a left instead of a right and went down past the gift course and back. So we started out the run and we were going an easy pace just taking but one thing led to another and we pretty much started cooking. Hunter and Alexander were up front and I was just taking with Liam Cole and Weishaar in the back. Since the guys up front didn't know exactly where to go I moved up and went with them. We pushed up the hill to horse barn and kept it going which was good. We cruised down freese, and the next hill was the toughest one yet, I really forgot how tough it was. Me and Ian were up front pushing each other up it. I thought that was some good teamwork. We decided to stop at the top and that when I realized that we were going too fast because there were different groups within varsity. Cole, Liam, and Seneca fell behind a little. Cole is understandable because he passed out twice that day because of low blood pressure so he was being carful. After that we tried to keep it slower so we could stay together but it kept getting faster so we had to stop again. After that we just finished off the last 2 miles back to the track from game farm. Overall solid run and we packed it up nicely. Good to see some of the young guns sticking up with us. I'm looking forward to sharing some of the things that have gotten me to the point where I'm at with them. That's something I wish Dan would've done with us when we were younger. He taught me a few good things but I wish he really just told me about the trials and errors of training so I could avoid them. So I'm gonna try to share as much knowledge of running as I can. So any younger guys on this log if you have any training questions let me know. We finished with a nice ab circle and stretching. After the practice Liam told me next time people fall behind just let them go. It's not worth it to sacrifice the quality of our runs by stopping to let people catch up. We stopped way too many times. We should be stopping no more than once a run. Normally it should be just a continuous run. Tomorrow I'm going to Turks and Caicos. I'll be grinding it out down there. I'll do barefoot running, abs, hips, and stretching since it's a low mileage day.
