Little roadblock

July 7, 2016 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
My Achilles felt a little sore all day after I woke I wasn't sure why but I pretty much just ignored it and kept doing my everyday activities. My legs have been a little sore lately so I thought it was just part of that. I started running and it started burning a little bit so I just stopped immediately. I know from watching a video of an Achilles rolling up one time that they are nothing to mess with. So I just walked back to my room. When I went out later it didn't hurt to walk on, it just felt like tender and uncomfortable. It was definitely inflamed. I decided to just stretch and do hips today. I didn't stretch anywhere around my Achilles because that would just make things worse. Tomorrow I will just try to stay off it as much as possible. I iced it up tonight as well. Gotta look at the positives at least this happened now, only 4 days in rather than later in the season there's still so much time that this won't affect my training at all. I read something on Achilles soreness and a lot of the causes were things that I did. It said increasing intensity of workouts. Which I've definitely done. I've only been running for a few days and I've already been going hard. I just have been trying to do too much too early. I'm training like I'm 10 weeks into my training. I've never really hopped into training by doing 6 and 7 milers. That's just too much, plus most of the paces in my runs have been too hard. I'm only human and sometimes that's just too hard for my body to take this soon. I guess it's just a little bit of my ego, I always want to be the hardest working person, and I like being an alpha dog and leading runs and pushing the pace a little. But more isn't always better especially now. There's and time and place for everything. I'm just being smart about it and any other injury from here. I'm not gonna hop right into 38 and 44 miles it's gonna be more around the low 30's to start out with. Another thing it talking about was trainsitioning into new shoes which in doing now. And also over pronating which I was doing yesterday because I was compensating for my arches that were hurting. I'll be taking tomorrow off too. From there I'll see, just one step at a time.
