Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
met up with my coworker from Pete's, Colin. He's trying to become a deputy sheriff and part of the test is running an 8:30 mile. (the rest of the test includes 250 push-ups and 250 pull-ups. apparently thats the easy part for him.) he hasn't run in 6 years and in the meantime smoked a pack a day for 4 years. abby also joined us, since she had also asked me to run with her. We started at petes and ran to cactus and back. pace varied some. Colin had to stop some but I managed to convince him to keep going for most of it. quick stretch when I got home. knee actually felt totally fine when I first got home but hurt again after I iced and stretched
In exchange for me helping him run, he gave me a lifting workout to do. probably not such a great regular workout for running but it was fun to try once.
4 sets of 25 bicep curls w/15lbs
25 very assisted pull-ups
100 crunch type things on the ab machine with 35lbs
2 sets of 50 leg presses w/ like 90lbs (meant to be 50 but i forgot about the bar. whoops)
50 on the calf thing w/50lbs
then some of my own exercises
clams-30
superpeople-30
seated leg lifts-20ES
VMO exercises given to me by doctor
Update: I realized that my knee isn't hurting at all right now and I don't remember having pain this evening. To be fair I wasn't walking or running a ton but it's still good! In retrospect (and I knew this at the time), I got pretty melodramatic about this. On the other hand, maybe it was good that I did because I reacted strongly and nipped it in the bud. it seems like it won't be a long term issue, though I'm not out of the woods yet.
I'm also realizing I've now been training for a month, though it feels like its been much less time. Really looking forward to the next few weeks of training.
