After an evening in DC last night, we flew to SF this morning and drove to Petaluma in the afternoon. The Chipotle at Dulles for breakfast, the cheese plate on the flight, the late lunch at a Vietnamese shop in SF and the fact that my afternoon run felt like 9:30pm to my body resulted in my needing to stop in to the lobby bathrooms at the movie theater. Other than that, the run was better than I'd feared. I had headed out of the house with the family and Lew's mother and we walked slowly up the hills above her house. I nearly talked myself out of running today -as I had done yesterday... (The fact that I can't walk due to the plantar tightness on the right foot isn't helping my motivation, and the hour of victorious tennis Sunday morning with JB seemed like enough activity and foot stress for one day.) ...Still, today I did start the run with an embarrassingly slow jog down the hill. I looped the flattest sections of West Petaluma and actually loosened up about 23 minutes in when I dragged myself up a series of hills (Cherry and Laurel streets) in an unsuccessful attempt to cut over to Bodega Ave. Had to double back which is always upsetting, but quickly found Lew's childhood home and then headed to her Mom's at what might have been sub 8 pace. Foot loosens while I run, but knees act up. Any time I sit or rest or lie down, the foot turns into a club. I have started rolling and massaging today and will try to be good about it this week.
