Exercise Type: Run
Weather: near 90, no humidity, lots of sun
Comments:
Right before dinner I forced myself to face the hills again. This time I'd convinced myself I'd just run a mile or two back and forth near the creek, never climbing for more than a minute or two before I'd double back and swing through the valley. Somehow, I kept convincing myself to get to the next bend or the next flattish section. The next thing I knew I'd convinced myself to finish the god-forsaken climb which turned out to be 16 minutes before it actually leveled off. At that point I decided I needed to go on for at least a bit of the flat and that kept stretching on, especially once I decided to follow a narrow jeep path off to the West which I hoped would bring me to a view of the Central Valley. It didn't, and when it appeared it would drop downhill, I paused to stretch. Didn't last long with the flies descending upon me, but I did admire the bear scat at my feet (fur and berries and a decent size...)The run had taken me 24 minutes out and took only 20 minutes back despite no increase in effort. When we drove out the next day, I measured and the hill itself is about 1.7 miles long. Surprised by how decent I felt, and the views on the top half of the hill were incredible and worth it. Another bath in the frigid creek afterwards was amazing. Temps were significantly warmer as I climbed the hill.
