Another not so great morning, so couldn't make it to practice, but felt better in the evening. Although it was getting dark, I didn't allow myself to use running in the dark as an excuse not to get the workout in. I biked a little over two miles to Cass from my house on West Hill, then did the workout on the grass aroudn the soccer fields. I stashed my bag with my water bottle and phone in the bushes. I was willing to bet that someone would not be searching the bushes for stuff at 8 o'clock at night, in the dark, in an almost empty park. Anyway, I'd say the course I designed for myself was about 95% or more grass, and the only pavement involved was when crossing over onto the actual Waterfront trail. It was a little weird running in that much dark, without much light. The grass slowed me down a little, definitely, also my new shoes felt a little too tight. Another factor for being slower could have been the fact that I didn't have the other JV guys to push me, and give the race/workout feel to it. Bu I'm glad I made myself get out and do the workout. The 3rd rep met my goal of sub-7 minutes, but the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd ones were a little too slow. I think onthe first two I was holding back a little too much, saving energy for the 3rd, and on the actual 3rd, I was saving some energy for the 4th. Probably should've gone faster overall. But stilla good workout. Update: I actually didn't go the right route that I had mapped out at home on some of reps, so a couple were over 1 mile.
