Exercise Type: Run
Weather: Low 70s
Comments:
Warmup and Cooldwon times are estimated.
Got to Owego around 8:00, and the Jorge's the course with the JV guys. Because this was about 4 hours before my race, I logged the course jog as a separate run.
Warmed up with the JV B squad around 45 minutes before the race. I felt a little slow during the warmup, but figured that would go away with the adrenaline and stretching. I also felt tired yesterday too. Turns out, I still felt tired during the race. I'm not trying to come up with excuses, I just felt like it was difficult for my legs to move as fast today, and they didn't feel very energized. The hills were also tough, I got passed by some bigger guys on them, which was frustrating, although I would pass some of them once I crested. I tried to not get beat on the hills, but once again it happened. It was nice to see support from my teammates, that definitely helped. I think I keep comparing my times to the Andris 5k, which was probably my best race ever. I got 21:19 in that race, and finished ahead of some people that beat me today and on the IC Time Trial. I guess I have to stop comparing my races to the Andris 5k, though I'd like to find a way to attain that energized feeling I felt then. Coach B said something about runners needing to have a short memory, though I don't quite remember what he said. I'm ready to do better on Tuesday.
