Great race. I am very pleased with my time and the way the team looked. The cool and cloudy weather during much of the morning was incredibly useful and it made my race better. We warmed up efficiently and quickly. At the line, I was a little stressed, but I had confidence in my training. Once the cannon went off, I pushed out and kept a good pace up, unlike last year. I felt incredibly strong during the first mile. I knew that I wanted to go out fast but not overly so and I stuck about 5 seconds behind Jake. I used the downhill effectively and ran up half mile hill nicely. I passed the mile marker at 6 flat, a good strong pace. As I headed down into the valley and crossed the stream, I felt really strong and confident. I steadily began passing people throughout the second mile, which I passed in about 7 minutes. At the beginning of the second mile, I caught up with Ethan and we worked off each other for the remainder of the race. I was able to accelerate away from hills incredibly well throughout the race. I also felt very fast on downhills and straightaways. After The Hill, I started my kick and I was moving until the final straightaway, where I was weak. I almost felt that I had extra energy I could not access. Nonetheless, it was a great race, a 13 second PR and a 3:56 course PR. I finished 54th, whereas last year I finished 436th last year. I feel great about this race. Additionally, everyone looked so great. Varsity A/B Boys and girls looked incredible and JV underclassmen girls and upperclassmen boys also finished great. I'm excited to see where this season brings us. I also hope Alex feels better soon.
