Felt pretty good today. I wonder how I would have done had I run yesterday. I wasn't feeling well yesterday, but it allowed me to stay home, get some good homework done, and get to sleep at 9:15. Yes, being unabated to attend practice wasn't good, but I am happy to feel well rested today. I ate a lot today, but luckily didn't feel full during my race. Maybe I'm finally hitting a growth spurt? Got to Elmira, warmed up by doing one lap of the course, watched some Mods, and the other races until JV boys, which was last. I started out fast, but I feel like that helped me get going during the race. I started to feel a little tired about a mile in, which was surprising, because I feel like I have good endurance. It was probably the pace though which was tiring. I still tried not to let the tiredness slow me down by getting a song in my head and kept my feet hitting the ground to the rhythm, which helped. I liked having teammates cheer me on during the race, especially Jake. I feel like actuall runners and running coaches give better encouragement than non-runner parents. For example, I heard a "finish strong" after my first lap, which was weird, because I was only halfway there. I tried to catch to Aidan F and Yuki on lap 2, but didn't. I still feel like I pushed my pace though. What bugs me is that I beat both of them by a good amount at the Andris, but I guess I have to have a short memory and worry about myself. Towards the end of the race, I could feel myself slowing down a little, though I kept trying to push myself. A couple other guys passed me towards the end. I need to improve my last 800 speed. 8 have a good kick during the last 100, but I need to pick up the pace more towards the last 800. Did a cooldwon with the JV guys afterwards along the dike. Overall, a good race, and I really liked the course. Excited to see my time.

Update: got my time. While it wasn't a PR, it's still a PR for a XC race, so that's good.
