Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Again very happy with my race. I am starting to just appreciate every run as it comes. I try not to look forward to the next day and just take it one day at a time. If my leg hurts too badly to run the day of then I will just cross train and not let it get to me. I think keeping this mentality will stop me from convincing myself that I am not fit enough to compete with the top girls. Even if I haven't done as much mileage as them I still put in the work. Got to the course and kind of jogged the course kind of didn't because we had to stop so much for the various races going on. My problem thigh was bothering me still from the 200s we did on Thursday. I didn't let that get to me though because I know when I race that I feel no pain in my legs from the adrenaline. I can do one stride before the race and be in pain, but when the gun goes off all of the pain numbs. When the gun went off I got out fast, I surprised myself because normally I get boxed in, its nice to know I can get out for Manhattan. We took the first mile out really quickly I think. I really like when the first mile goes out way too quickly because then people die off and even if you start to go slower too you can just work on picking people off because everyone is feeling the effects of the fast first mile. The whole time I was battling with Maeve from Corning. She had a really good race and really helped to push me. I managed to pass her on the downhills and just outkick her at the end. The whole race my mentality for not giving up was that I couldn't go to Geneseo having a bad race because I knew the coach would ask about my time. I am going to set a small mental battle for each race it really helps me to focus and stay in it when I feel like quitting. Super pleased with my time. I am starting to get closer to where I want to be. Just going to keep on staying positive and see where it will take me. VERY excited for Manhattan it was such a fun meet last year and I love the course. I am going to go out really hard and use my newfound downhill running skills to my advantage. Shouldn't be too hard to mentally stay in the race as the Geneseo coach is coming to watch. Also proud of the teams performance; we beat Elmira and while we haven't reached how good we can be we are getting there too.
