Cass 6x800s

October 11, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Mid 60s

Comments:
I really need to be even quicker biking to IHS from ACS. I got to the rocks before 4 pm, but as I was locking up my bike, the JV guys were leaving. Did the warmup to Cass by myself. Got there, and was in a group with Yuki, Aidan F, and Marco. Our goal splits were 46 for the 200, 1:32 for the 400, and 3:04-3:06 for the 800. Our first rep definitely started out slow; the first 200 meters felt like over 7:00 pace. The next rep was quicker, but the third and fourth reps I definitely slowed down. I feel like the middle reps can sometimes be more challenging and slow for workouts because I'm not completely fresh, and I don't want to go too fast or else I won't hit the target pace for the last reps. After one of these middle reps Liam let me know that it's fine if I'm a little bit behind Yuki and Aidan. Marco only did four reps because of an injury I think. After the fourth rep, Liam suggested I go to the group with Walter, Garrett, and Samson, but I decided to just pick up the pace even more and push myself. I know that for others these splits would feel very easy to run, but today I felt like I pushed myself and worked hard. Did a cooldown back to IHS, turning onto the train tracks next to the boathouses. When I got to IHS, I decided to go around the back and go onto Lake St. in order to add around half a mile. Even though it's not a lot more, I'm still behind on mileage after having to cut yesterday's run short because my stomach was bothering me. Did drills, strides, and some stretching when I got back. For some reason, no one was doing hurdles. Maybe I should've just gone myself and done them. A good day of work, on to the next day.

Update: Was a little disappointed I couldn't do the Walk Through the Fire. I know I'm a rookie and one of the slower guys on the team, but I like to push myself, especially at longer distances. Hopefully I'll do it next year.
